Volunteer Corner

Program DirectoAlexa Miller, Program Director, shares her thoughts on the importance of volunteers to our programs.

"Our volunteers are vital to the success to our programs, they help to execute our plans and are instrumental in bringing our vision for the program to life. Our volunteers are a collection of individuals with widely different backgrounds, abilities and disciplinary interests, and collectively they add joy and excitement to the lives of our students."

Volunteer opportunities:

  • Tutor or mentor a student in our Saturday Academy
  • Organize a backpack, food, clothing or holiday toy drive in your workplace or neighborhood
  • Participate in the 5K & Fit Walk/Run by walking or running and collecting pledges
  • Help with registration, set-up, logistics, etc at a HOPE worldwide Tri-State special event
  • Be a regional representative for HOPE worldwide Tri-State

Some volunteer quotes from the Martin Luther King Day of Service:

Rockland County Teen Gabby Nivar, painting a home of underprivileged family: “It's so great to be able to meet needs in my community. I've wanted to help before but didn't know where to start."

Ryan Mack: “I'm glad we can give people Hope”

"I felt a sense of accomplishment that I did something for someone else and that it didn’t matter that they won’t even know who I am. They will see what I’ve done to help their school and that’s good enough for me.I want to do voluntary work again.” Kayla King
